Escudo Rojo Gran Reserva Chardonnay
Overview
Crafted by Baron Philippe de Rothschild Chile, Escudo Rojo Gran Reserva Chardonnay showcases the classic elegance and crisp minerality of Chile’s maritime terroir. By combining legendary French winemaking techniques with the cool-climate vineyards of the Casablanca Valley, this exceptional white wine achieves a seamless harmony between vibrant acidity, ripe tropical fruit, and delicate oak complexity. “Escudo Rojo” represents the Spanish translation of “Rote Schild” (Red Shield), the iconic family crest of the Rothschild dynasty.
Terroir & Winemaking
-
Casablanca Valley Terroir: Sourced from prime vineyards in the Casablanca Valley, situated close to the Pacific Ocean. Morning coastal fogs and cool ocean breezes moderate temperatures, allowing the Chardonnay grapes to ripen slowly while preserving natural acidity and fresh aromatic intensity.
-
Refined Oak Maturation: A portion of the wine is fermented and aged in French oak barrels for approximately 9 months, while the remainder is aged in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to retain pure fruit freshness and lively acidity.
Tasting Profile
-
Appearance: Pale, brilliant golden yellow with shimmering green highlights.
-
Nose: Expressive and sophisticated. Offers aromas of ripe white peach, nectarine, and passionfruit, interwoven with subtle notes of white flowers, toasted brioche, roasted hazelnuts, and a touch of creamy vanilla.
-
Palate: Medium-to-full-bodied, rich, and beautifully balanced. A lush core of stone fruit and tropical mango is complemented by a delicate buttery texture, balanced perfectly by a bright, refreshing streak of citrus acidity.
-
Finish: Long, elegant, and clean, leaving persistent impressions of white peach, toasted oak, and a subtle mineral lift.
