Montes Alpha M 2019 (750ml)
Overview
As Chile’s pioneering ultra-premium "icon" red wine, Montes Alpha M represents the absolute pinnacle of winemaking from the renowned Apalta Vineyard in the Colchagua Valley. Only released in exceptional vintages deemed worthy by head winemaker Aurelio Montes, this world-class Bordeaux-style blend showcases extraordinary concentration, structural elegance, and remarkable aging potential.

Critical Acclaim
97 Points — James Suckling: Praised as a "lengthy, refined and elegant expression... with a tight, tensely framed palate, underscored by lots of creamy, dusty tannins".

Grape Blend & Terroir
The Varietal Breakdown:

80% Cabernet Sauvignon

10% Cabernet Franc

5% Merlot

5% Petit Verdot

The Apalta Terroir: Sourced exclusively from the prestigious Apalta Estate, where a unique horseshoe-shaped valley layout provides gentle sun exposure and rocky, well-draining soils that facilitate slow, balanced grape maturation.

Tasting Profile
Nose: Deep, vibrant, and remarkably fresh, opening with aromas of ripe blackcurrants, blackberries, and chili-pepper chocolate, layered with subtle cedary and savory undertones.

Palate: Full-bodied, juicy, and structurally intense. The core of dark fruit is beautifully balanced by secondary barrel notes of nutmeg, toasted nuts, and tobacco, framed by smooth, creamy, and dusty tannins.

Finish: Exceptionally long, polished, and sophisticated.

Craftsmanship & Cellaring
Oak Maturation: Aged for 18 months in fine French oak barrels to achieve seamless harmony between rich fruit concentration and delicate spice.

Serving Recommendation: Decant for at least one hour before serving to let the complex layers open fully.

Cellaring Potential: Enjoyable now after proper aeration, or primed for graceful cellaring for up to a decade.
