As the Year of the Goat approaches, Luzhou Laojiao (泸州老窖) has released its 2027 Ding Wei Year of the Goat Gift Baijiu (2027农历丁未羊年礼酒), and it is one of the most striking zodiac bottles we’ve seen. In Chinese tradition the goat (羊) was one of the earliest measures of wealth, and the character for beauty and abundance (美) is built on it. This edition turns that symbolism into a sculpted ram’s head, meant to bring prosperity into the new year. Viewed from the front, the bottle’s clean lines form an auspicious motif representing wealth gathering from all directions. It makes a strong statement on any table or display shelf.
The bottle was designed by noted designer Zhang Chaoyang. Its most memorable feature is that it can be turned. It rests on a round base and rotates with a gentle twist, a playful nod to the phrase 时来运转, “the tide turns in your favour.” The finish uses traditional Chinese red glaze with brilliant gold detailing, red for joy and gold for distinction. The result is a piece that feels celebratory, refined, and unmistakably made for the festive season. Long after the last pour, it is the kind of bottle people keep.
What’s inside lives up to the vessel. This is a 52% vol strong-aroma (浓香型) baijiu, made by traditional solid-state fermentation from just water, sorghum and wheat. It is certified to the superior grade (优级) of China’s national standard, GB/T 10781.1. It comes from Luzhou in Sichuan, along the 28°N latitude that China calls the “dragon vein” of baijiu-making. It is fermented in cellar pits that have been in continuous use for a century or more, made with techniques passed down for over 700 years, and brewed from glutinous red sorghum unique to southern Sichuan. Expect the hallmarks of classic Luzhou strong-aroma style: rich and full-bodied, silky-soft on the palate, with a long, lingering finish.
At a generous 1.2L per gift box, it suits every Chinese New Year occasion. It is a gift that impresses when visiting family and friends, a centrepiece that sparks conversation at reunion banquets and business dinners, and a fitting bottle to open around the family table on the most important meal of the year. If you’ve been looking for one standout bottle to give or to pour this CNY, this is it. Join our collective deal and secure yours before the festive rush.
